Market Insights-- october 30, 2026
Precious metals are once again trading substantially lower this morning due to rising oil prices, worsening inflation data and the likely outcome of an interest rate hike in December. The latest release of the personal consumption expenditures price index showed that inflation is still accelerating. Keep in mind that interest rate hikes put negative pressure on precious metals.
Inflationary fears have climbed alongside oil prices since the start of the Iran war earlier this year. We are seeing continued disturbances in the Straight of Hormuz with 3 tanker bombings late Thursday. We are now hearing chatter indicating that the U.S. will resume bombing of Iran after the Election on Tuesday. So expect continued downward pressure on precious metals next week.
On a side note, the AI "Boom" is now collapsing due to overspending by the big tech companies. Earnings for Meta, Google, NVIDIA, Amazon and others are showing losses with all projecting increased spending in the future, which is causing huge losses in the stock prices of these companies...hard to spend when you have a negitive cash flow. While this doesn't affect precious metals directly, it does cause losses in the overall stock market which adds to the cautious that does affect the metal prices. Metals aren't the only loosing play right now. There is no safe place for money at the moment.
Gold is now down 3.3% for the last 24k hours and down 6% for the month of October. Silver is down nearly 6% in the last 24k hours and down nearly 18% for October.
